Here are a few “Proud Farmer/Rancher” images you are free to use for your FB cover pic! We’ll keep adding to the library on our Facebook Page, and if you have an image you would like included, email it to info@bellaspur.com.

To make one of these your cover pic, right-click on the photo and click “Save Image As”. Select where you want it saved on your computer and click Save. Go to your Facebook profile page, and when you mouse over your cover photo you’ll see a box pop up to “change cover”. Click on it, “Upload Photo” and browse your computer to find the file you just saved. Click “Open” and then Save Changes.

Note: These images are displaying smaller than they are for spacial reasons. They will fit the cover pic are on your profile perfectly.

Choosing the perfect name for your business

We debated and discussed what to name our company for, literally, months. Now, we’re often asked to help new businesses develop their brand from the foundation up, including researching and selecting name options. Parts of your branding may be updated over time, like your slogan, logo, colour tones, etc., but your business name is probably going to stick with you and it’s best to get it right the first time.

There are lots of factors that should be considered, but here are a few of the major points you’ll want to take into account:

First and foremost, your company name should indicate what you sell. Scotiabank, Bell Mobility, American Airlines – these names don’t leave potential customers wondering what the business does. Sure, Nike and Apple Inc. get away with rather ambiguous names, but not many businesses have the household recognition that those two do, so they can get away with it.
In this digital age, you’ll want to do some online research to ensure that a website domain name, Facebook vanity URL and Twitter handle (at the very least) are available. Ideally, you them to be consistent – If your name is Black’s Angus Ranch, try to get blacksangusranch.com, facebook.com/blacksangusranch, twitter.com/blacksangusranch – to minimize confusion. And try to avoid having to downgrade to .net, .biz or .org (unless you are a non-profit organization), because they don’t rank with search engines as well.
This last tip is one that is so beneficial, but so often overlooked, that we’ve never shared it before… If you can, start it with either a number, or a letter close to the beginning of the alphabet. This will bump you up to the top in membership listings, directories, the phone book (yes, some people still use it), etc. And being seen before your competition is always useful!

It’s Family Day here on the prairies, and I would like to take a moment to celebrate and thank our Bella Spur family.

We really do have the best kind of people on our team. Not only are they talented, every single person is passionate about our work and whole-heartedly dedicated to our clients’ success. Perhaps most importantly though, each individual possesses strength of character – work ethic, commitment, authenticity – that contributes more to our customers’ experience than any single other thing.

That gives us a bond that is rare in a work environment. We believe in Bella Spur’s vision because we believe in each other. All of us work together here, but we also work together in the agricultural industry and often spend our downtime together as well. And when you like each other enough to do that… well, I think that says something about the quality of the people.

So thank you, each of you, for the strength you bring to Team Bella Spur. We wouldn’t be us without you!

One of the greatest pleasures is to watch the people in your life succeed at their passions. We couldn’t be more proud of Ty’s debut album release, and he has generously offered to give three of our peeps FREE downloads of Takes All Kinds.

Bella Spur is fortunate to have several ties to singer/songwriter Ty Christian Wilson. Ty and Jamie-Rae are first cousins, and he also played in a band with Laura’s brothers, called Jimmy’s Good Eye. So we’ve had the honor to have front-row seats watching Ty’s career development. From the early days jamming in Northline’s shop, to his first live shows, and now the release of his first full-length album Takes All Kinds.

The record features several brand new tracks, a few songs that Ty has been performing since the days of Jimmy’s Good Eye, as well as his radio hit “Wagon Wheel.”

The variety of music represented has something for everyone – a bit of country, a bit of rock, a bit of humor, and even a little gospel – and it’s all uniquely Ty Christian Wilson. His vocals have a rare, raw emotion that brings the tracks to life and leaves them echoing in your heart.

Smashed Head Studios

Jamie Rae’s brother Daniel is a true artist, in every sense of the word. He has had artwork published, sold and sought after. The way he thinks, works, does his laundry, brushes his teeth, cooks a meal or just drives to the post office, all reflect his artistic, idealist being. He is as authentic as they make ‘em.

Daniel has always sought out a career path as a professional artist. It’s been a long and challenging journey, as anyone who pursues a creative profession will tell you. His natural talent and incredible drive to succeed helped him begin to wedge one foot in the door. He was doing fine, getting some work published here and there, collaborating on a comic book series, and receiving a few custom art orders.

To make ends meet (the whole starving artist bit wasn’t far off!), he picked up some mechanic work on the side, helping a family friend do odd-job mechanical repairs. While working under a car, a jack gave out and hit him on the head with incredible velocity, shattering the front part of his skull. Astounding medical teams at the hospital, he managed to make it through with no serious complications afterwards, save for a scar on his forehead that makes him look like Harry Potter. Feeling incredibly fortunate, Daniel made up his mind that getting by simply wasn’t good enough anymore. He began developing strategies to further his career and sell his extraordinary art. Smashed Head Studios is the product.

With a dynamic new website, he plans to make his art and talent more accessible to the consumer. Custom art orders can be placed and purchased on the site. Sleek new galleries display his diverse artistic range and a blog keeps you up to date on daily musings, rants and general chatter.

We love his custom art pieces – what an opportunity to give and receive a meaningful gifts, for corporate or personal means. One of the perks of being his sister is that Jamie Rae get all sorts of incredible artwork as gifts from him. Her kids think its the coolest, and she has a never-ending string of inquiries from company about the unique artwork on her walls.

Danny is a constant source of inspiration to us. He is steadfast in his belief that if you do what you love, you’ve discovered happiness. We wish him all the best with Smashed Head Studios, and can’t wait to see the future unroll for this dedicated and talented young artist.
